This is a story inspired by my
latest addition of a slide scanner! In other missives I have described how we
used to spend hours of pure fun at the Township Dump on Berlin Road. I have
also mentioned that I have had a life-long affinity for boots of all kinds. As
long as I can remember I have always worn combat boots, cowboy boots, engineer
boots, and Wellington boots. I think the main rationale for this is that I
absolutely hate tying shoes! When I did wear regular shoes as a kid,
they were always untied (along with my zipper always being down). Even now I rarely wear shoes, however, as of
the last few years, they have rarely been untied. The reason for this is that a few years ago
I started to tie them with a “surgeon’s knot”. Now, you maybe wondering, what
does the Township Dump have to do with my boots??? Well, if you notice the pic
on the lower left of this page, you will notice I’m wearing black Wellington
Boots. You know where I got them??? I got them at the Township Dump! Yes,
indeed. They were a little too big for me, but that never mattered. I wore them
for about 2 years just about continuously. It never bothered me any, but Tim
used to tease me about getting them from the dump. Hmmmm, if you notice the pic
on the lower right bottom of this page, you will note that I’m sporting a brand
new pair of black Wellington Boots. My mother got them for me for Christmas, I
believe in 1965. She must have either taken pity on me for wearing boots from
the dump, or was tired of being totally “grossed out”. I guess times change,
because among my many pairs of various kinds of boots, not one pair came from
the dump! Hmmm, either times change or I got more sophisticated. Or (more
likely) I never found any more boots my approximate size in the dump. Oh, hey,
as long as I’m on one of my “fetishes” I also just love Boxer Shorts,
especially silk ones with far out designs! In fact, I just got 4 new pairs
today at Wal-Mart. I found more of my coveted silk ones too!!! Check the pic of
one of my favorites I got today. I like this design because I can “Moon”
someone without getting undressed! It’s all part of my endless quest for
organization and efficiency. Oh well, just 2 of my many “unclassified” things I
have an affinity for…
