THE “MIRACLE” BULB

They (who are “they”?) always say that in “The Good Ole Days”, things were made much better and lasted much longer. I can believe that by just 1 “shinning” example! There is an old light bulb in our barn that has been in continuous use as long as either Tim or me can remember! That’s at least 50 years or more! And we have no idea how long it’s been since “before we could remember”! The barn was built in 1939 to replace our previous very large barn complex that burned down. Tim thinks that’s the original bulb! Therefore, if that is true than this bulb has been in continuous use since 1939, or about 63 years! WOW! Now that’s getting your money’s worth! The bulb is the “old fashioned” clear type, so it very well could be the original bulb, and probably is! What a marked contrast to today’s bulbs that seem to be forever burning out! I got so tired of always changed bulbs in my lights here at home, that I obtained those new fluorescent types that are supposed to “outlast ordinary light bulbs 10 times longer”! While… I’ll see. If the “10 times longer than ordinary light bulbs” is true, that means in about 2 months or so I’ll have to replace these “revolutionary new” ones! I have a few more days till the 2 months, so I’ll wait and see! Now, here’s the irony of all this. The “miracle” about this is not that the bulb has lasted probably over 63 years, but that neither Tim nor I ever “shot the bulb out” with our BB guns when we were kids! Now that indeed is the REAL miracle! Even in these modern “Post-Biblical Days”, it is obvious that miracles can and do occur! (Check out pics of this bulb that I just took this morning)!
