| Ah yes, another pig story has come to mind! Tim and I not only teased the grown pigs, but we also had fun with the little pigs as well. Ollie, our grandmother, always told us, "Waste not want not", so we got maximum mileage out of all the pigs, both large and small. It was so good that on rare occassions we actually heeded the advice of "grown ups" :-) However, I'm sure if they had known about 99.993% of our antics, they would have been horrified! In this account I will relate another one of our countless original ways to tease, provoke, and generally aggravate the pigs. Tim and I would herd all the little pigs (around 20 or so as best as I can recollect, into the "box stall". Then Tim or myself, whoseever turn it was, would lay down across the door way and the other would yell, "Stampede"!, and chase all the pigs out and they would run over us going through the box stall doorway! It was really fun to have a herd of little pigs run over you, at least it was to us. At least we had the sense not to do this with adult pigs, or we would have had many scars shaped like pig feet all over us. Whenever Uncle Ned caught us aggravating the pigs, we would yell, "Quit running the fat off the pigs"! Hey, we figured we were just doing them a favor and making their boring life more interesting and challenging. It's a proven fact that pigs are among the most intelligent animals, so they must have figured that all the "excercise" we gave them were for their own "good"! After all, even pigs are entitled to some "fun and recreation", and we figured it was up to us to provide it for them. We sure provided a lot of it too! Hey, we were just that kind of "thoughful" kids! |
