THE "SWAT" TEAM
Neither Tim nor I were very "active" in extra school activities throughout our public school years. We did participate in some high school plays, etc., but we never succeeded at anything athletic or academic in those years. We figured we both got enough "athletics" on the farm riding pigs, etc. Both our Father and Uncle Ned vicariously wanted us to be "star" athletes. DIDN'T HAPPEN! I wished at times I would have since it would have made my navy boot camp experience go a little easier in later years. Our Dad was on the School Board and always wanted us to get straight A's. DIDN'T HAPPEN EITHER! One time we found one of HIS old grade cards in the attic and his grades were WORSE than ours! Neither of us "applied ourselves" during our public school years. However, we both went on to excel in college and the military. Oh well, I think it all comes down to maturity and motivation.  There was however, one honor in school that Tim earned. During our 8th Grade Graduation (do they still have these in this day and age?), Tim got mentioned for getting THE MOST SWATS with the paddle that year! In fact, as far as we know, it's a record that STILL stands to this day! I'm glad that at least one of us did our expectant family proud by excelling in at least one thing during our public school years! :-)
